Nathan Wilcox

Born 10 Mar 1846 in Henderson County, Illinois.  He suffered from some sort of physical disformity as he was described as crippled in the 1880 census, as well as in the Alms House register, and on his death certificate.  This kept him from ever working, and relied on family members to care for him throughout his life. He lived at home through 1890, living with his mother likely until her death in 1890.  He was living in Kirkwood with his widowed sister Minerva in 1900, then with sister Mary Ann on Irving Street of Kirkwood in 1910.  Nathan was admitted into the Warren County Alms House on 07 Dec 1916 and remained there there rest of his life.  Nathan died 03 March 1922 at the Warren County Alms House just one week shy of his 76th Birthday.  The cause of death listed on his death certificate is Myocarditis which he had been treated for about a year.  He was buried in Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood, presumably near his parents and sister Mary Ann.  No headstone exists, nor was there likely ever on purchased due to his financial state at the time of his death.
