Alvin F and Charlotte (Farabee) Brucke

HIGH POINT, NC - Mr. Alvin F. Brucke, Sr. passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Hospice Home at High Point after several weeks of illness. He was born in Pickens, SC May 15, 1920 to the late John Reece Brucke and Mary Jane Green Brucke. Brucke was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church where he had been a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was involved in many of the church activities including Chairman of the Cemetery Committee, served as a church lay leader, Sunday School superintendent, youth director, Chairman of the Administrative Board and had taught Sunday School class. He was a past Master of Acacia Lodge #674 AF & AM. He was a Charter Member of the Wallburg Lions Club where he was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in recognition for Humanitarian work for the Lions Club International Foundation. He served his Country in World War II fighting in five major battles, during his tour, including the Battle of the Bulge and the surrender of Germany. Brucke loved to jog, play golf and work in the garden. He was happiest when he was hunting deer and riding four wheelers with his sons in the mountains, or fishing at Badin Lake where his sons took him fishing every Father's Day weekend. He loved his family and was always happy to be with them, especially his grandchildren who were so precious to him. On June 21, 1942 he was married to the love of his life the former Charlotte Farabee and they had sixty nine wonderful years together. He retired from North State Communications as manager of the Thomasville exchange having worked for forty years. He was preceded in death by six brothers, and two sisters. Surviving in additions to his wife are three sons Fred Brucke and Wife Jean of High Point, Tom Brucke And wife Myra of Winston Salem, and Craig Brucke of the home. Three grand-daughters, Renee Green, Jennifer Broos and husband Brad, Mallory Brucke. Two step grandsons Jeff and Rusty Grove. Three great granddaughters, Aimee Callicutt, Marley and Lucy Broos. One brother Mack Brucke of Conover, N.C. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday March 9, 2012 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn Upchurch and Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Internment will follow in Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Military Burial Honor Guard of Wallburg. The body will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home (Wallburg), 10301 N. NC Hwy. 109, Winston Salem until placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Shady Grove UMC 167 Shady Grove Church Road. Winston, N.C. 27107. Mrs. Charlotte Farabee Brucke, 92, of John A. Hall Road, passed away early Saturday morning July 27, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. Born in Davidson County on May 22, 1921 to Theodore S. and Emma Wyre Farabee, she had made this area her home for her entire life. She was a charter member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women, was the church historian, and was a member of the Lena Johnson Sunday School Class. She was also involved in Meals on Wheels and was volunteer of the month. She was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. On June 21, 1942 she married Alvin F. Brucke, Sr. who also preceded her in death on December 6, 2012. Surviving are her sons Fred Brucke and wife Jean of High Point, Tom Brucke and wife Myra of Winston-Salem, and Craig Brucke of the home; grandchildren, Renee'Green, Jennifer Broos and husband Brad, Mallory Brucke, Jeff and Rusty Grove, great grandchildren, Aimee Callicutt, Marley and Lucy Broos. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Westfall and Rev. Leigh Bartoli officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Wallburg, and will be at the home of a son, Fred Brucke, 1674 Mock Road, High Point, NC at other times. The family suggests that memorials be made to Shady Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund , 167 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC
